EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado — Local rescue crews safely located a 5-year-old boy and his father Wednesday evening after the pair became separated from the rest of their family on a hike near Half Moon Campground in the Holy Cross Wilderness.
The family reported the missing father and son about 3 hours after they waited for them to return to a campsite, just around 3 p.m., according to Eagle County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Shannon Cordingly.
Rescue crews located the boy and his father a good distance away from the campsite, near Gilman, just before 6 p.m., Cordingly said.
“Everyone is OK,” Cordingly said.
The names of the family members and where they're from was not released.
