At Edwards Elementary School, there is an initiative to keep the kids active and healthy — children run laps at recess and receive little awards every time they reach an additional five miles. On Wednesday at 12:40 p.m. recess, David Reilly reached the 100-mile mark, exceeding his peers by three to four times and breaking the school records. Each year starts anew, so he started this effort with the start of the school year. Way to go, David!

Unity presents

Jan Garrett and JD Martin, from Aspen, award-winning singers and songwriters, will present the music and message at Unity of the Mountains spiritual community on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at the Avon library. JD Martin has written award-winning pop and country music, recorded by the likes of Reba McEntire and Peter Cetera. Jan Garrett is a jazz singer and has toured with Steve Martin and John Denver.
