AVON, Colorado — Plum TV has dropped off the local cable channel lineup in the wake of an announcement that Vail Valley local station TV8 and Plum TV have reached an “affiliate agreement.”
Effective Feb. 6, TV8 has access to Plum TV's library of programming, with distribution reaching approximately 1 million weekly viewers across seven markets including Aspen, the Hamptons, Martha's Vineyard, Miami Beach, Nantucket, Sun Valley and Telluride. Under the agreement, TV8 will provide programming to the Plum TV network and TV8 and Plum TV will also collaborate on new content to air on TV8.
TV8 and Plum TV will also partner to create improved web-based coverage to serve the Vail Valley and beyond. TV8 now has more than 110,000 monthly viewer minutes globally through TV8Vail.com.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for TV8 to better serve viewers in the Vail Valley and beyond with expanded national coverage from Plum TV airing locally and a more in-depth snapshot of the Vail Valley reaching Plum TV audiences in highly-attractive locations,” said Steve Wodlinger, general manager of TV8.
Erik Williams, former host and producer of Plum TV Vail, will join the TV8 on-air team in hosting and production.
“TV8 was the perfect partner for Plum because of its success in the local market as a broadcaster and its connection to parent company, Vail Resorts, which has developed so many natural marketing integrations to date,” Plum TV founder and chairman Tom Scott said. “Plum's content has been nominated for 44 Emmy's and our evergreen library has extensive stories produced in the Vail/Beaver Creek market. Our affiliate relationships are about partnerships to grow our businesses together.”
