First inspired by the sparkling treasures in her grandmother's jewelry box, Penny Preville has emerged as an award winning jewelry designer. Her signature style is defined by femininity, luxury and an eye for intricate detail. Fusing old world techniques and details with a contemporary sensibility, Preville's collections strike a balance between elegance, fashion, innovation and wearability. Her new romantic moonstone and turquoise collections will be at The Squash Blossom Friday through Sunday.
Blue has long been Penny Preville's favorite color.
“Cornflower blue is my signature shade,” Preville said. “But I also love the dark blue found in sapphires, the romantic blue of moonstones, the magical blue of labradorite and the bright blue of turquoise.”
For the spring 2012 season, Preville launched a collection with all of her favorite blue stones.
“I thought it was time to really make blue a formal part of the collection,” Preville said.
Moonstones form the largest section of the blue inspired collection. “The legend of the moonstones is so romantic,” Preville continued. The lore of the stone is that the light of the moon formed it. There is a fable that claims a woman wearing it on the night of a full moon will fall passionately in love. Moonstones are also talismans of good luck. Preville has set some of her favorite rainbow moonstones in gorgeous gold necklaces bracelets, earrings and rings.
“Penny's new color pieces are a wonderful addition to her traditional diamond jewelry,” said Amy Logan, store manager. “I especially love the stylish new long gold chain that has both the diamond and rose cut moonstone stations. I'm also excited about the new turquoise collection. Penny is using some great bright and lively Sleeping Beauty turquoise that contrasts beautifully with her yellow gold. The Squash Blossom has a great history with turquoise and this is such a fresh, modern approach. ”
Penny Preville jewelry is available in 18k white, yellow and rose gold, as well as platinum, delicately set with diamonds, incorporating elements such as mille-grain and hand engraving.
