VAIL, Colorado — The town of Vail is seeking proposals from qualified architectural teams for design services related to construction of a new municipal office building at 75 S. Frontage Road. The project will include confirming and advancing the current schematic design for the new municipal offices and a partial interior remodel and exterior alteration of the existing police department wing. The selected architectural team will be responsible for preliminary design, design development, design approval and entitlement, construction documents and construction administration.
The request for proposals is being issued following Town Council approval of an agreement with Vail Valley Medical Center and the Steadman Clinic to redevelop the site. The project includes construction of a medical office building on the west side of the property and replacement of the municipal offices on the east side of the site.
Details of the request for proposals are available on the town's website at www.vailgov.com under the public notices section. Interested proposers must register with the Community Development for consideration by contacting Shelley Bellm at sbellm@vailgov.com.
Proposals are due by 4 p.m. Feb. 17 with the project scheduled to begin on March 8. Construction is anticipated to begin in May 2013 and take approximately 21 months to complete.
The redevelopment is seen as a major economic stimulus for the town in providing future growth and expansion opportunities for the medical community. In addition, the partnership serves as a catalyst in replacing the two existing public buildings, built in 1971, which are in need of significant functional, mechanical and technological updates.
