EAGLE, Colorado — Lonnie Leto, general manager of the AmericInn in Eagle, former president of One Eagle and former vice president of the Eagle Chamber, has announced his candidacy for the Eagle Town Board.
“I have spent the past three years working with One Eagle and the Eagle Chamber to help make a difference and I wanted to make an even bigger impact, which is why I am running,” Leto said. “This is the best small town in America and we need to preserve our heritage while making sure we continue to progress forward.”
Leto spent two years on the One Eagle Board, one of those years as president. During that time he helped bring awareness to the need for marketing the town and helped to contribute over $40k to that effort. This past year, he was the Eagle Chamber vice president and campaigned for the lodging tax passed by residents in November of 2011. That tax is expected to raise more than $100,000 for 2012 marketing efforts. Leto is also a former business owner in Eagle.
A 14-year resident of Eagle County, Leto and his family have been Eagle residents for five years. He and his wife Taber moved to Eagle and opened The Project – a skate and clothing shop before becoming general manager of the AmericInn three years ago.
This year's town election in Eagle is set for April 3. Four seats are up for election — Mayor Ed Woodland and board members Roxie Deane, Yuri Kostick and Kraige Kinney. Kinney is term-limited, and can't run again.
