County receives award for financial reporting

EAGLE COUNTY - The certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting has been awarded to Eagle County's by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its comprehensive annual financial report.

The certificate of achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

An award of financial reporting achievement has been presented to the county's finance department.

Eagle County's financial report was judged by a panel against the program's standards, which include exhibiting a "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate the county's financial condition and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 15,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
