VAIL - Louise Post is smoking a cigarette and drinking a diet Coke - her first meal of the day - at a truck stop outside Minneapolis.
"My voice is a little scratchy. I just woke up," says the front woman of Veruca Salt. "We had a really crazy weekend."
It's been four years since the Chicago breakthrough band of the early '90s toured the U.S., and they've definitely been missed. Touring on its new EP, "Lords of Sounds and Lesser Things," the band hit Detroit Friday night, hopped on a plane to San Diego for a show Saturday and flew back the next day to play in Chicago, Post's hometown.
"It was an amazing homecoming for me," she says. "I got to play at the Metro, my favorite club. It was an overcast fall day, the best time to play in Chicago. I was ecstatic to be playing. It was a very loving crowd. It's weird, the people that are coming out are really hard-core fans. What we've lacked in numbers in certain places, they've made up for in noise and passion and energy. It's been really touching."
Friday, Veruca Salt hits the Rockies to give Vail a taste of their newest punk pop tunes at 8150.
Kurt Anding, a talent booker based out of Edwards, heard they were touring again and had to have them.
"I'm not afraid to say I was stoked on their music about 10 years ago, and I still think the sound is as appropriate today as it was then," Anding said. "I've seen them a few times and every time, they're really powerful."
Jill Meteyer of Edwards saw them once in the early '90s and can't wait to catch up with the band.
