Eagle woman seeking county treasurer's job

EAGLE - Krysta Brubaker of Eagle recently announced her candidacy for the Eagle County treasurer's job.

Brubaker, a Democrat, hopes to unseat incumbent Republican Karen Schaeffer.

Currently an executive at Community Bank in Avon, Brubaker has worked in local banks for the last 16 years. She also worked four years in the county treasurer's office in the 1990s. She and her husband Bryan moved to Eagle County in 1981. They have two sons.

She is also on the board of directors of the Western Eagle County Rotary Club and the Eagle Valley Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the Vail Valley Business Women, is a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, and is a troop leader for the Boy Scouts.

In a statement announcing her candidacy, Brubaker wrote:

"As treasurer, I will continue my commitment to serve my community and support local business. I will strive to establish a professional and respectful work environment and reduce employee turnover and its inherent costs. I will run a lean, fiscally responsible operation for the people of Eagle County."
