The Colorado Department of Transportation will
add a "School Bus Stop Ahead" sign near the
North entrance into Town. CDOT recommends
there should be at least 500 feet of sight distance
when approaching a bus stop.
However, the first
corner as you enter Town only allows for 409 feet
of sight distance to the bus stop near Toledo
Street on Main. The Minturn Town Council
requested CDOT install the sign instead of look-
ing for an alternate location for the bus stop.
Troy Thompson of ERC has been retained by
Minturn Town Council to apply for another
Natural Resource Damage grant from the
Colorado Department of Health and
Environment to continue the Eagle river restora-
tion from Bellm Bridge to I-70 and Dowd
Junction. Grants will be awarded in 2007.
The Town is reviewing potential locations that
would provide more parking in Minturn. Carter
& Burgess, the Town's engineering consultant, is
helping the Town assess its parking inventory and
needs. Look for future postings for public meet-
ings and public input on this important issue.
Carter & Burgess is working with the Planning
Staff to create new Engineering Standards. The
new Standards will be submitted to the Planning
and Zoning Commission Staff for review by
August 2006.

Celebration, Sunday July 2nd. The parade starts

The Little Beach Playground will be dedicated to
the memory of Vicki Golden thanks to a generous
donation to the Little Beach Park Committee
from the Golden Family for Park renovations.
Please join the Golden Family and friends for
refreshments and kids activities on Saturday, July
8th at 2 pm at Little Beach Park on Cemetery
Road to celebrate the playground dedication.
The new Little Beach Park is a volunteer effort
organized by the Little Beach Park Committee, a
Minturn citizens group. Many Minturn residents
have generously donated countless hours of their
time to fundraise, organize and physically con-
struct the Park for the enjoyment of the entire
community. The Park Committee is grateful for
everyone's support!
The Town is currently considering contracting
with the Minturn Community Fund (MCF) to
allow the MCF to manage the Little Beach Park
and Amphitheater for community and private
events. The Park and Amphitheater will be avail-
able for a use fee beginning in August 2006.
The
MCF is a nonprofit organization whose purpose
is to provide diverse cultural, educational, enter-
tainment, and community-building events in
Minturn and to provide financial assistance to
projects initiated by local Minturn organizations
or citizen groups that benefit the Minturn com-
munity and its citizens. For information or a
grant application, please contact Kelly at (970) 827-
4235.
Minturn police officer Marsha Rich has moved

On Sunday June 11th the Minturn Community
Fund organized a fundraiser to help one of our
favorite locals, Jim Popeck, with medical expens-
es incurred during a recent serious illness. The
fundraiser, a poker run held at the Gashouse in

approximately $16,000.
