GLENWOODSPRINGS - In Glenwood Springs, it's time once again for the Frontier Historical Society's historic Ghost Walk through Linwood (Pioneer) Cemetery. Tickets are on sale.
The seventh annual walk takes place Oct. 20-22 and Oct. 27-29 up the hill to the old cemetery where costumed actors portray characters from Glenwood's past.
Tours take place at 7, 7:45, 8:30 and 9:15 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 7, 7:45 and 8:30 p.m. on Sundays, and are limited to 30 people each tour. The 7 p.m. tours are recommended for young children.
Participants need to carry lanterns or flashlights for the moderately strenuous half-mile hike up to the cemetery. Lanterns will be available for purchase for $10 before each tour. Be advised that once up at the cemetery, the terrain is hilly and mildly strenuous. Wear appropriate footwear and be prepared for possible inclement weather. Those with physical limitations should not attempt the hike.
Tickets are $10 for Frontier Historical Society members and $15 for other people 3 and older. Advance ticket purchase is highly recommended. Tickets are available at Through the Looking Glass bookstore and the Frontier Historical Museum and may be reserved with a credit card by calling 945-4448.
Cookies and cider will be served at the bottom of the hill after each tour.
The Ghost Walk is a fundraiser for the Frontier Historical Society and Museum. For more information, call the museum in Glenwood Springs at 945-4448 or e-mail history@rof.net.
