A 31-year-old man reported another man to police after buying Honduran lottery tickets from him for three years. The buyer and his mother had been buying $10 and $20 books of tickets from the seller, who would write down their names and the numbers they wanted to enter into the Honduras lottery.
The buyer and his mother would call the seller Sundays to see whether they had won the lottery. The buyer and his mother told police that they knew some people who had won, but that they had never won anything.
Police asked the buyer if he had proof of the transactions. The buyer replied that the seller did not give out receipts and that he only takes cash. No one was arrested.
Speeding with weed?
A 26-year-old man and a 25-year-old man were speeding on I-70 through Vail with more than an ounce of marijuana in their vehicle at 9:47 a.m. Monday, according to Chief Dwight Henninger of the Vail Police Department. Police pulled over the men, driving 13 m.p.h. above the speed limit, and smelled marijuana in the vehicle.
One of the men gave the officer two bags of marijuana totaling more than one ounce. The other men gave the officer a bag weighing much less. The officer asked them how much marijuana they had and they kept handing the bags over, Henninger said.
Both men were charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernelia and the driver was ticketed for speeding.
