AVON — A 70-year-old woman reported that several people were making noise in a hot tub at Brookside Lodge, according to an Avon Police Department report.

Police climbed a fence and questioned the three men and three women, ages 22 through 31, who told police they had come from Sunridge Condominiums.

Some were naked and others wore underwear. Police told the men and women to get dressed and made them pick up their Budweiser beer bottles and cigarettes surrounding the hot tub.

Police ticketed them for trespassing.

Babysitter beats a bad rap

BEAVER CREEK — A man wrongly accused his baby-sitter of smoking marijuana in his room at the Ritz-Carlton March 2, according to an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office report.

The man and his family arrived after a day of skiing and smelled an “extreme odor” of marijuana. The babysitter denied smoking pot but the man called police.

Police interviewed the babysitter, who said that she had never “dreamed or fantasized about smoking pot.”

The next night, the family came home after dinner and smelled marijuana in the same room. The man apologized to the babysitter.

Backing into trouble

EDWARDS — A drunk 23-year-old man drove off the side of a residential street after a sheriff’s deputy knocked on his car window, according to an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office report.

The man was sitting in his car about 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, on the wrong side of the road when a deputy knocked on his window and asked if he was OK.

The man replied yes and then started to drive in reverse. He went off the road and into someone’s yard, barely missing a rock with a sign on it.

The man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and careless driving. Police drove him home because the Eagle County jail was full.

No pills for you!

AVON — A 19-year-old man wrote his name over his friend’s name on a prescription to obtain painkillers, according to an Avon Police Department report.

Before he left for Brazil, a friend gave the 19-year-old the prescription. When he tried to get the prescription filled at a local pharmacy, the pharmacist called the doctor’s office and was told the pills had not been prescribed to the 19-year-old.

Police arrived and arrested the man on suspicion of second degree forgery, fraud and attempted possession of a controlled substance.
