AVON — The water features and viewing areas at the Avon whitewater parks are being improved this week.
Work at Avon’s whitewater park, located in the Eagle River underneath Bob the Bridge, will continue through Sept. 16.
“This year we did not see the water features perform as we had hoped," said Town Engineer Justin Hildreth. “Most whitewater parks need some adjustments to find the optimal boulder arrangement.”
Other improvements to the area include stabilizing the boulders around the viewing area to provide a larger patio-type area for public viewing.
Cost of all the work is $100,000.

First Eagle gear swap held Sept. 29
EAGLE — The first Community Sports Gear Swap will be held from 8 a.m. to noon, in the Eagle Town Park on Sept. 29.
The town of Eagle is providing the space free of charge. Sellers should bring their own table, blanket or chair, and set up their gear at 7:45 a.m. Buyers can show up at 8 a.m.

“There’s an abundant amount of people in this valley who have sports equipment and who want sports equipment, especially for their kids,” said Yuri Kostick, a town employee. “I think this will be an excellent opportunity to find some good sports gear and not have to deal with paying someone else to buy or sell.”
Kostick said he’s planning to sell some of his family’s equipment and is hoping to find snowshoes and ski gear for his three boys.
