VAIL - It's time to toast Vail Oktoberfest, emulating one of the largest celebrations in the world. Enjoy two full weekends, Sept. 7-9 and 14-16, of oom pah parties, bratwurst, Erdinger and Veltins German Beers, traditional dance demonstrations and more in Lionshead and Vail Village.



Vail Oktoberfest kicks off in Lionshead tonight at 6 p.m, followed by the Official Keg Tapping Ceremony at 7 p.m. Food, drinks and dancing will be plentiful throughout the evening.

Schedule of events

Friday, Lionshead Mall & North Lot, 5 - 10 p.m.

n 5 p.m. - Vail's 2007 Oktoberfest Opens to Public

n 6 p.m. - Opening Ceremony/ Official keg tapping and live music

n 10 p.m. - Vendors close, festival ends


Saturday, Lionshead Mall & North Lot, 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.

n 11 a.m. Vail's 2007 Oktoberfest opens. Kidz Zone opens and live music begins. n 6 p.m. Headliner music acts TBD

n 10 p.m. Vendors Close, festival ends

The following Saturday and Sunday will feature activities including alpine horn blowing, traditional dance, oom pah music, Wolverine keg bowling, bratwurst-eating contests, and kids' entertainment and activities. The night continues on with live music.

Vail Village taps week two of Oktoberfest September 14-16. In addition to the traditional fare and assortment of enjoyable entertainers, free live concerts will take place in the center of Vail.



On Sunday, gather the kids, stretch the legs, and enjoy an early morning of friendly competition at the Oktoberfest Fun Run Sept. 16. Benefiting the Children's Garden of Learning, the Fun Run provides children and parents alike the chance to continue the Oktoberfest celebration together for a worthy cause. Categories include 10K, 5K run/walk, and the ever-popular Kids 1K. Strollers welcome.
