Timber to be burned Wednesday in Vail

Print Comment
VAIL — About 20 piles of downed pine and aspen trees will be burned Wednesday and Thursday near Vermont Court in West Vail.

The trees were cut down this fall by crews building a buffer between the forest and neighborhoods to prevent the spread of wildfires.

Smoke and flames will be visible during the burns and smoke may settle in the evening. People with respiratory problems are advised to stay indoors or avoid the area.

Once more snow falls, some of the 250 piles of timber remaining on the upper bench of Donovan Park will be burned.

For more information, contact Eagle County Wildland Mitigation Specialist Eric Lovgren at 328-8742 or Vail Fire Department Wildland Coordinator Tom Talbot at 401-4202.
