Fancy Tiger Grand Re-Opening, Denver

Most people don’t think of Denver as a fashion mecca, but hip clothing boutique Fancy Tiger is out to change that with their hyper-stylish new store. It’s fully stocked with both cutting-edge brands you’ve never heard of (but will) and custom threads you can’t find anywhere else. Even better, Fancy Tiger sells tons of crafts and fabrics and teaches classes so you can start making your own sick duds. Who needs “Project Runway” when you can do it yourself? Fancy Tiger celebrates its return to the forefront of fashion with a grand opening party that includes DJs from the Hi-Dive, beer specials and cupcakes — there’s nothing more fashionable than that.
What: Fancy Tiger boutique opening party.
Where: Fancy Tiger, 14 S. Broadway, Denver.

Denver Restaurant Week

Gourmands, start your metabolisms — Denver’s restaurant week begins this Saturday. From Saturday until Friday, you’ll be able to enjoy the finest cuisine Denver has to offer for the ultra-low price of — ha! — $52.80. That price includes extensive multi-course dinners for two in flavors as varied as Italian, Mexican, Latin fusion, Asian fusion, Indian, French, Mediterranean, seafood, steakhouses, wine bars and of course brewpubs. It’s only $26.50 if you’re dining solo, but for deals like this, even your worst enemy would be a fool not to break bread with you at one of these fantastic eateries. Visit www.denverrestaurantweek.com for a full list of participating restaurants.
What: Denver Restaurant Week.
Where: Denver area Restaurants.
When: Saturday through Feb. 29.
Cost: $52.80 for a multi-course dinner for two.

Bang Camaro, Bluebird Theater

Boston’s Bang Camaro realized that metal is best when it’s stadium huge — that’s why their vocals are sung, screamed and chanted by a 20-person choir. But they can’t bring all those singers on the road, so they thought of the next best thing: They’d recruit a full choir in every city they play. Each night, you’ll have the opportunity to jump up onstage with Bang Camaro and live out your heavy-metal dreams as one of many singing frontmen for the band. To audition to be part of their “guest choir,” head to their Web site or MySpace page. As for Bang Camaro’s music, it’s pretty much balls-out, flames-and-dragons ’80s metal; there isn’t a single riff here you haven’t heard before, but it’s just as fun as when you used to cut class to listen to it in the parking lot.
What: Bang Camaro performs.
Where: Bluebird Theater, Denver.
When: Saturday, 9 p.m.
Cost: $10-$12.
Info: www.bangcamaro.com or www.myspace.com/bangcamaro.

Hollywood On The Fax Oscar Party, Denver

Sure, you could sit at home by yourself for the Oscars, quietly ticking off your list of hits and misses as you stave off sleep while waiting too long for the Best Picture award. Or you could head on down to Neighborhood Flix for a swinging red-carpet night full of partying Oscar buffs just like you. A $25 ticket buys appetizer, entree and dessert, with one draught beer or wine, entertaining commentary from the hosts and entrance into the on-site, interactive Oscars pool. All proceeds benefit Denver Public Schools middle school art programs.
What: Hollywood On The Fax Oscar Party.
Where: Neighborhood Flix, 2510 E. Colfax Ave.
When: Sunday at 5 p.m.
Cost: $25.
Info: Call 303-777-FLIX or visit www.flixonthefax.com.

Banff Mountain Film Festival, Boulder

The premier outdoor film festival takes its show in the road with a slew of movies you won’t want to miss: From short-subject films about ancient mountain cultures to environmental docs to climbing porn, the Banff Mountain Film Fest has it all. Standout flicks this year include grand-prize winner “Death On Nanga Parbat,” a gripping documentary about the tragic death of famed mountaineer Reinhold Messner’s brother on the treacherous peak, and “Badgered,” a delightful, Oscar-nominated animated short about a badger that just wants the world to let him sleep. This is your chance to catch the best of the fest all in one night.
What: Banff Mountain Film Festival.
Where: Boulder Theatre.
When: Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Cost: $15.
Info: Call 303-786-7030 or visit www.bouldertheater.com.
