AVON, Colorado — A drunken man who broke a window in a bar was chased by patrons and tackled into a snow bank, according to an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office report.

An off-duty sheriff’s deputy was playing a weekly trivia game when he heard glass breaking. He turned around and saw a man running away from the broken window.

The deputy and several bar patrons chased after the 22-year-old suspect and tackled him into a snow bank behind a restaurant.

The man said he was sorry and asked the deputy to let him go. He was arrested.

Man tosses cigarette, cops find pot

AVON, Colorado— A driver who threw a cigarette out of his truck was later ticketed when marijuana was found in his car, according to an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office report.

The driver threw a lit cigarette out of his pickup truck and was pulled over. A sheriff’s deputy gave the driver a warning for littering and asked to search his truck.

The driver said OK, and the deputy found some marijuana. The deputy searched two of the driver’s passengers and found marijuana and pipes.

The men were ticketed.

Bright-light bust

EAGLE, Colorado — A drunken driver who was tailgating and flashing his bright lights at another driver was arrested, according to an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office report.

Weaving in a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 6, the driver was less then a car-length away from a smaller car. The driver turned on his brights for a few seconds and turned them off a couple times and was pulled over.

The man had drank “a couple beers,” he said.

The man was arrested. His blood alcohol content of .15 was almost twice the legal limit for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Am I under arrest?

EAGLE, Colorado — A man called police to see whether they were going to arrest him, according to Eagle police.

The man had heard from “ a friend of a friend” that his estranged wife had turned him in for violating a restraining order.

Police said he was not under investigation and that they would call him when he was.

No ticket in pot case

EAGLE, Colorado — A woman who found a bag of marijuana and kept it for several months finally reported it to police, according to Eagle police.

The woman found the bag of marijuana under a child’s car seat. She asked her husband about it and he said a friend may have left it there.

He also said that he would tell police the marijuana was hers if she reported it.

The woman hid the small bag in a kitchen drawer for several months, but finally brought it to police.

Police said they could not prove who owned it and took the marijuana, which they planned to destroy.

Stop sign steamrolled

EAGLE, Colorado — A driver knocked a stop sign down and when police found him in his home, he said he had planned to fix it, according to Eagle police.

The driver hit a stop sign at Second and Church Streets one night and didn’t stop. Another driver saw his license plate number and gave it to police.

Police found the man at a home in Gypsum and the man said he had planned to go back and fix the sign later that night.

He was ticketed for hit and run and careless driving.
