New family festival comes to Beaver Creek

Dan Zanes concert, Chicago Children’s Choir highlight new Cookie Fest, taking place Thursday through Saturday

BEAVER CREEK — Beaver Creek Resort and Cookie Magazine present the new family event, the Cookie Kids Fest, today through Saturday. Families can enjoy a headliner concert by Grammy Award-winning performer Dan Zanes, a movie screening of Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, a performance by the Chicago Children’s Choir, an ice cream social, slope-side fun and more.

Cookie Corner will entertain kids of all ages with snow globe making, ski helmet decorating, mad hat making and more from 1 to 5 p.m. each day by the ice rink. Indulge with S’moregasbord treats from 3 to 5 p.m. each day during this s’mores happy hour at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa’s outdoor fire pit.
Additional programming is as follows:

Thursday

• 3 p.m. Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium Movie, Vilar Performing Arts Center
Admission is free. Space is limited and tickets should be picked-up at the Vilar beginning Thursday at 11 a.m. Tickets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

• 4 to 5 p.m. Rail Jam Series, base of mountain
Practice your terrain park skiing and snowboarding skills in this fun and supervised forum. Open to skiers and riders level 5 and up.

• 7 p.m. registration, Thursday Night Lights, 7:30 p.m. upload on Buckaroo Gondola Express
A glow stick ski-down set to music with a fireworks finale. Register at the Children’s Ski and Snowboard School. Participants must be at least a level 5 skier/snowboarder.

Friday

• 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Family Scavenger Hunt, check in at the Cookie Corner

• 3 to 4:30 p.m. Ice Cream Social, Gerald R. Ford Hall
Build your own sundaes! For kids ages 15 and under with a coupon from the Cookie Corner

• 4:30 p.m. Kids Tubing, base of the mountain for kids ages 12 and under

• 6:30 p.m. Dane Zanes & Friends Concert, Vilar Performing Arts Center
Beloved by children all around the nation, Grammy Award-winning performer Dan Zanes can be seen regularly on “Dan Zanes & Friends House Party” on Playhouse Disney. Tickets are $35 for adults and $25 for kids. Call 845-TIXS to purchase tickets.

Saturday

• 3 to 5 p.m. Mad Hatter Skating Party, ice rink
Wear a fun, crazy hat and receive free ice skating. Bring your own hat or make one at the Cookie Corner.

• 6:30 p.m. Chicago Children’s Choir, Vilar Performing Arts Center
A special live performance. Tickets are $48 for adults and $36 for kids. Call 845-TIXS to purchase tickets.
