Colorado Mountain College tuition to increase

EDWARDS, Colorado — Students attend Colorado Mountain College for multiple reasons. Affordability is a popular one.

Beginning this summer semester students will be paying slightly more for their education as the community college’s board of trustees voted to increase tuition fees for the next school year.

“As anyone knows who’s been looking into colleges, tuition across the country has been skyrocketing in recent years,” said Director of Public Relations Debra Crawford. “Because of the support of our local communities in the six counties we serve, we have been fortunate to be able to keep the cost of college education affordable.”

Despite the increase in tuition, the college, which has a campus in Edwards, will still be relatively affordable when compared to the rest of the state’s universities and colleges. Overall, the increase will be 3.5 percent, which equals about $2 per credit hour for in-district students.

Higher operating costs and growth led to the tuition increase, said Lin Stickler, the college’s executive vice president.
