EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado — Eagle County Adult Services is sponsoring a one-day class entitled “Savvy Caregivers.” The program is designed to help individuals providing care for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias.

The workshop is centered on the ideas that most caregivers never expected to be placed in that role and that he or she was most likely never properly trained for the position, said Doreen Constantine, Eagle County Adult Services Caseworker.

Laurie Frasier, past caregiver and regional director of the Western Slope Alzheimer’s Association will be the guest speaker. She will focus on teaching specific skills and outlooks that promote a healthy well being for both the caregiver and care recipient. Attendees will also be provided with a caregiver’s manual and CD-ROM that teaches effective management of caregiving.

“Savvy Caregivers” is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Thursday at the Eagle County Building, 0022 Eagle County Dr., El Jebel. There is a suggested donation of $25. Lunch will be provided. For more information or to register, please contact Laurie Frasier at 970-256-1274 or laurie.frasier@alz.org.
