Aspen Times Staff Report Vail, CO Colorado April 3, 2008 CommentsPrintEmail GLENWOOD SPRINGS — The Glenwood Canyon bike path will open for the season on Saturday morning, but bicyclists might want to get their rides in early in the spring, before the Colorado River rises.
The path will be open from Glenwood Springs at mile marker 116.8 to mile marker 131, on the east end of Glenwood Canyon. Colorado Department of Transportation crews will sweep the path a final time on Friday.
CDOT closes the concrete path each winter, when maintenance activities on Interstate 70 above it can create unsafe conditions on the path. It may be necessary for CDOT to close the path again for the safety of users, depending upon late spring snow and/or high water when the snow melts and the river roars.
