Vail Valley: Spring storm brings more snow

Print Comment
DENVER, Colorado — Another May snowstorm has dropped 7 inches in the Colorado mountains above Denver, and some areas are bracing for up to a foot of new snow.

The storm drenched Denver-area highways with rain during the Tuesday morning commute.

Arapahoe Basin, the only major ski resort still open in Colorado, reports 5 inches of new snow. The National Weather Service says 7 inches has fallen in Breckenridge and in some foothills towns.

Chain laws have been activated for trucks and buses on highways over Berthoud, Loveland and Red Mountain passes.

It’s the second snowstorm to hit Colorado in 11 days. A May 2 storm brought blizzard-like conditions to the northeast corner of the state.
