Avon’s town attorney steps down

Print Comment
AVON, Colorado — Town Attorney John Dunn has given the Avon Town Council notice of his intention to resign effective Oct. 1.

Dunn cited a growing workload and his desire to refocus on his private practice in the areas of real estate, land use and business representation as reasons for his resignation.

Dunn served as town attorney from 1980 until 1998. From 1999 through 2001, the town employed an in-house attorney. Then, in 2002, Dunn was invited to return to his position as a part-time, contract attorney, and he has served in that position since then.

“We appreciate the many years of service that John has given the Town of Avon and we wish him well as he pursues a different career focus,” said Town Manager Larry Brooks.

In response to Dunn's announcement to resign, the town has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for legal services. The RFP can be found online at www.avon.org/contractsandbids and entertains proposals from either contract legal service providers or full-time in-house legal services.
