VailÕs Mountain Haus managers enjoyed a sunny day at the ball park during their May 8 managers outing to Coors Field. It was a great time to relax and get ready for another summer season in Vail, not to mention that 9-3 victory over the Cardinals! Many thanks to our boss, Steve, and the Colorado Mountain Express for taking such good care of us! Go Rockies!

Last year we started the year off with UN1TEÕs Super Sweet Back to School Dance and gave away some iPod Nanos. This year, we're ending the school year with another valley-wide high school dance and will be giving away various prizes, including an iPhone! If you're a high schooler at Eagle Valley, Battle Mountain, Vail Christian, Vail Mountain or Red Canyon come to our Woodstock-themed dance from 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Eagle-Vail Pavilion. The entry fee is $5, but if you come dressed to impress in '70's garb (bell bottoms, tie dye, big hair, etc.) you'll get in for free. For more information, e-mail Scott Leonard, UN1TE and Young Life area director: scott@vailvalley.younglife.org.

Doh! Why did I do that?

There’s the time you tried to wax your eyebrows yourself and the time you decided to test just how far the needle on the gas gauge will go past the E. Bad decisions, at their best, make great stories for your friends. At their worst, they can cost you money, lives, friends and your reputation.
Most of us have managed to avoid making any seriously bad decisions. Still, we are intrigued by a new book that purports to help you recognize “the limitations of your inner Homer Simpson,” to quote the writers at www.slate.com.
The book, “Nudge: Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth and Happiness” aims to help you stymie that compulsion to have one more drink before hitting the road, help you decide between paper and plastic and unlock the path to choosing the right Rolls Royce for your garage. Apparently there is a science to making decisions, and if you spend enough time analyzing and overthinking why we all make the decisions we make, how we can train ourselves to avoid negative outside influences, then your life will be more successful and happy.
Or you can just keep on flipping that coin.
