AVON — A Texas company has announced plans to develop 80 acres of land in Avon owned by Magnus Linholm.

The company, Trademark Property Company, sent a press release indicating it would develop much of the old airport property between Traer Creek Plaza and the old part of Avon. The press release mentioned an opening time in the fall of 2009.
Dan Christopherson, who handles public relations for Lindholm, said the company has been hired to develop the land for Lindholm.

The property is zoned for a mix of retail, office and other commercial space as well as multi-family housing.

David Larson, who’s handling the retail leasing for Trademark, said the plans anticipate a few stores of between 20,000 and 30,000 square feet, but will mostly be smaller stores, shops and offices.

“The Vail Valley is a different market from the national market,” Larson said. “There’s been strong interest in this.”

Avon: Road restriping starts Monday

Motorists are asked to use caution next week as roads in Avon are repainted. Until the work ends Friday, drivers are asked to use caution when they see the painting truck at work. Recently painted areas will be coned off and motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are asked to avoid those areas.

Vail Golf Club driving range open

The Vail Golf Club opened its driving range Friday, for those eager to hit a few golf balls prior to opening day. The golf club, which is operated by the Vail Recreation District kicks off its 42nd season within the next week, weather permitting.
