Our dearest Jackson passed into greater dimensions on June 24, 2008 at about 8 a.m. Surrounded by love: his Papa, Mommee and other friends Marcy, Ron, Nala and Blue were there for his transcendence.
My sweetest, loving Jackson, I wish you a peaceful journey, many rivers and lakes to swim, 90-degree chutes to fly up and down at Godspeed, squeaky tennis balls for you to chase and a lot of love for you that includes: belly scratches, hula twister tail-waggin fun, sniffing down beasts, curious engagements with woodpeckers, doggie pets and jumping riverbeds. Until we meet in another heavenly place and time, someone will steam your sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, rice and chicken for you. You are an eternal beacon of joyous light in our hearts. When I feel the whisper of angel wings near me, I will turn around and know it is you watching from above your clouds of glory. Ill keep a part of you with me, and everywhere I am, there youll be!
We are heartbroken forever.

A total of 23 volunteers showed up on Saturday to pick up trash alongside the Vail Pass Trail and Interstate 70 as part of the ECOTrails annual Vail Pass Trail Clean Up. Town Talk Towers
The Titans of Town Talk participated in last weekends Solstice Run in Beaver Creek, which we have to say was a really great event. Thanks to all the folks at Beaver Creek and the Vail Rec District for putting it on.
The sun was slanting sideways through the aspen groves as we shuffled along the trail high on Beaver Creek Mountain.
We were trying to catch Tom Edwards, the speedy Gypsum town councilman who happens to be at least 30 years older than us. We spent the first half of the race reading the back of his shirt.
Then he jetted away from us, only to be seen later at the finish line. We have to say, Tom, youre the man. And you have a sweet beard, too.

History Quiz & book giveaway
Know your Eagle County history: Shirley Welch and the Eagle County Historical Society have just published a cool new book about our neck o the woods called The Eagle River Valley. Its a pretty cool history lesson with lots of neat old photos and weve got a few copies to give away.In Wednesdays quiz, we asked how Edwards got its name. Steve Vincent, of Vail, was the first to e-mail in with the correct answer: Edwards was originally Berrys Ranch and was later named Edwards for Melvin Edwards, a Red Cliff businessman. Bonus factoid: Edwards was also later the secretary of state for Colorado. Steve, your book is in the mail!
For todays quiz, the first Town Talk readers to respond with the correct answer to this question will get a copy of the book. Send your responses to towntalk@vaildaily.com.
Here goes: Were not generally known for our farming, but what crop was king around Avon and Beaver Creek in the 1920s?
