VAIL, Colorado A Texas developer will present a more-detailed plan for the $600 million Lionshead parking structure Tuesday night.
The Vail Town Council will be asked to consider the project plan for the proposed complex, which includes two hotels a four-star W and a five-star St. Regis condos, timeshares, stores, restaurants, a conference center and public parking.
The project is being proposed by Open Hospitality Partners/Hillwood Capital, a Dallas development group that includes Ross Perot Jr., the son of the former presidential candidate.
The project plan approval could come as soon as Aug. 5.
Its like climbing Mount Everest, said Mark Masinter, who leads the development group. Each point is a little more important and tougher to get to.
The next hurdle after approval of the project plan would be getting Vail Resorts to remove the deed restriction on the 6.3-acre property, which is owned by the town. The ski company donated the land to the town decades ago, but retained control over how the land could be used.
The Open/Hillwood plan includes 1,610 public parking spaces an increase over the current number, 1,150.
