Avon: Lakeside movies start Friday

Friday’s movie is “American Graffiti,” and free root beer floats will be handed out to the first 100 people

AVON, Colorado — Movies will be shown alongside Nottingham beginning Friday, and every Friday after that until Aug. 22.

Friday’s movie is “American Graffiti,” and free root beer floats will be handed out to the first 100 people.

Pre-show activities, including movie-themed games, relay races and prize giveaways, start at 7:30 p.m. Movies start at dusk, between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The schedule for the rest of the summer:

Aug. 1: The Bourne Identity

Aug. 8: Rush Hour

Aug. 15: Forrest Gump

Aug. 22: The Sixth Sense

Guests can bring picnics, blankets and lawn chairs. There is no seating.

New this year is the addition of two “date night” movies with free child-care provided by the Avon Recreation Center. Date nights are Aug. 1 and Aug. 22.

Call the Avon Recreation Center to register your child for free child care for date night movies. Child care will open at 8 p.m. and close at 10:30 p.m. on date nights.
