Benefit Run

The Angels in Action 5K Run/Walk has been held each summer for the past six years to benefit the Crissa Lea Swinford Memorial Scholarship Fund. The event had grown over the years with more than 150 people taking part in the run/walk at Nottingham Park and along the Eagle River in Avon. The 2008 race, however, has been canceled and is scheduled to resume next summer.

The race benefits The Crissa Lea Swinford Memorial Scholarship Fund. This merit scholarship is awarded to Battle Mountain High School students who display the characteristics displayed by Crissa Lea Swinford. This year, the fund awarded two $4,000 scholarships to two young women from Battle Mountain High School. All proceeds from the race go directly to the scholarship fund since all of the costs of the event are covered by sponsorship of the event by Slifer Smith & Frampton and RANelson Construction Co., as well as many individual donations.
