VAIL, Colorado — Vail Rotarians Peter Leslie and Rick Spitzer are exhibiting photos at the Vail Library beginning today. The photos will be on display through the end of the month.

Leslie has taken photos in more than 60 countries. His photos have been published in the U.S. and in Thailand and his works are in private collections all over the world.

Leslie’s home in Vail has “splendid” views of the Gore Range, and many of the photos exhibited show the local mountains in many different lights, weather and at different times of the year, he said.

“After working and living all around the world, I am happy to have at last settled down in my retirement in this great mountain community,” Leslie said. “Now I can show my appreciation for all those who have encouraged and supported me over the years by helping others, while at the same time enjoying my hobby of photography.”

Spitzer is publishing a book of photos of Colorado mountains. He is a keen photographer and some of his photos can be seen at his Web site, http://spitzerphoto.com.

As a Colorado native, Spitzer feels that the Vail area is an ideal spot to enjoy the Colorado Rockies. A love of photography has taken him all over the Vail area and to the four corners of the state. Those photos are one part of the exhibit at the Vail Library.

“The Vail Rotary allows individuals an opportunity to give back to their community,” Spitzer said. “The sale of these photos provides a way to support many of those initiatives.”

Prices start at $20 for an 8-by-10 framed or mounted photo. Net proceeds from the sale will benefit the Vail Rotary Club’s “Service to Youth” activities.

Rotary supports “The Children’s Health Care Initiative” that provides free doctor and dentist care to needy children in the Eagle Valley. Rotary Youth exchange students from Battle Mountain High School study abroad for one year and incoming students attend BMHS. Free dictionaries are handed out to all students in 3rd grade. An annual Career Fair at BMHS is organized by Rotarians with the cooperation of many local businesses, and service providers such as police, fire and ambulance services. Vail resident Michael Celesta recently traveled to India as a participant in this year’s Rotary Group Study Exchange.
