Special to the Daily
EDWARDS, Colorado — Award winning recording artist Michael W. Smith will perform in a benefit concert on Sept. 14 at the Vail Christian High School Fine Arts Building.

The concert will benefit of two local organizations — the scholarship fund for The Vail Christian High School and Second Chance with Saving Grace, a local non-profit.
Vail Christian High School, a Christ-centered school in Edwards, nurtures academic excellence through a rigorous academic program. At Vail Christian High School, education fosters a lifelong enthusiasm for learning and excellence so that students will flourish in a changing world. Scholarship funds will benefit those students who want a Christian-based education, but would not otherwise be able to afford to attend VCHS. Visit www.vchs.org for more information.

Second Chance with Saving Grace, is a non-profit international organization whose mission is to educate, encourage, evangelize and enrich people’s lives. Its founder, Diane Dike, Ph.D., lives in the Vail Valley and is an inspirational speaker, teacher and singer. She is the author of “The Adventures of Gracie and Diane” book series for children and recently released her autobiography, “God Made Only One of Me.” Dike suffers from an incurable blood disease. Her dog, Gracie, a rescued Italian Greyhound service dog accompanies her to churches, orphanages, hospitals, schools, businesses, prisons and civic organizations sharing her message of hope and encouragement with a heart full of passion and gratitude. Visit www.dianedike.org for more information.

Over his 25 year career, Smith’s 20 albums have garnered multiple honors including an American Music Award, three Grammy Awards (from 13 nominations) and 40 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards.

The concert will start at 7 p.m. and will include a silent and live auction. Local band, The Ride, will open for Smith. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets range from $50 to $300 and are available at The Vail Christian High School, 31621 Hwy. 6 in Edwards or by calling 970-926-3015.

Sponsorships are also available. Contact event coordinator Jeanette Francis at 970-331-4918 for more information.
