Stickney: Ball position, weight displacement

Ball Position…

The ball can be played in one of three usual positions for short game ball control, it can however be played farther back or farther forward of these positions if you really need to hit an unusual shot.

If you place the ball just under the left side of the sternum the ball will fly higher and softer than normal, place the ball under the center of your sternum and the ball will fly in the air for a bit and then release when it hits the green.

If you desire a shot that is lower than normal then place the ball under the right side of your sternum and it will fly lower to the ground and it will run when it hits the green.

Weight Displacement…

After you have positioned the ball correctly the next thing to do is to properly set your weight accordingly to help the ball do what you want.

If you place your weight on your forward foot the ball should go slightly lower than normal, if your weight is fifty/fifty then the ball will have its normal trajectory, and finally if your place your weight on your rear foot then the ball should go higher than normal.

These settings are very slight and do not require more than sixty percent of your weight on either foot to change the ball’s trajectory- do NOT over cook this option. Remember, your weight is always opposite the ball’s position.
