EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado— The man accused of stabbing his former girlfriend at a Basalt-area trailer park Monday morning has been identified as Ian Ranney, 25, of Carbondale.

Ranney is being held without bond at the Eagle County jail. He was charged with first-degree assault, felony menacing, domestic violence and harassment/stalking, according to a statement from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was attacked at about 6 a.m. at the Aspen-Basalt Mobile Home Park, as she walked to her vehicle, authorities said. She was stabbed in the face and received multiple lacerations on her neck, the sheriff’s office said. She also received cuts on her hands from defensive moves, authorities said.

The woman was taken to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs, where she was undergoing surgery Monday. Her injuries weren’t believed to be life-threatening, the sheriff’s office said.
