Vail on Sale Web site gets old address back

The Vail Valley Partnership announced this week that its short-term room booking Web site is back at its original Internet address.

After more than nine months of operating as vailonsale.net, the site is back at vailonsale.com

The site was a bargaining chip in an intellectual property dispute between the Vail Valley Partnership and the firm controlling the technical and administrative functions that powered the site. Since its launch in 2000, vailonsale.com and vailonsale.net have been visited an average of 10,000 times per month by people looking for last-minute lodging deals. More than 60 lodging properties load their room inventories into the site.

“We are thrilled to have our original URL back in our control,” Vail Valley Partnership President and CEO Michael Kurz said. “Valley hoteliers and property managers have come to rely on Vail On Sale to help them market their excess room inventory and visitors from around the world have come to rely on the site for great deals on last minute trips. Now, with the integration of the .com and .net sites, guests will be assured a seamless experience.”

Christy Sports celebrates golden anniversary with prizes

Christy Sports, with a store in Avon, Colorado, is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a new Web site — www.christysports.com/birthday — and an opportunity for customers to win fabulous prizes.

Through this ski season, the company is giving away more than $50,000 in prizes and is also planning a birthday ski party on March 11 at Copper Mountain East Village at the base of the Super B lift.

“This is our way of saying thank you to our loyal customers who have supported us for 50 years,” said Keith Liefer, chief operating officer of Christy Sports. “Our customers have made it possible for us to expand from our first location on West Colfax Ave. in Denver to currently more than 40 stores throughout the Rocky Mountain region. We want to celebrate by rewarding them for their patronage and loyalty.”

Christy Sports is giving away 16 prizes per week until March 15. Customers can sign up at Christy Sports locations throughout Colorado and Utah. Every Sunday, one name from each of the 16 regions will be drawn for the prize.

Prizes include K2 skis, sunglasses from Smith and helmets from Giro.
