AVON, Colorado — An 18-year-old Avon, Colorado man was attacked by a roommate Dec. 23 wielding home cleaning products and throwing haymakers.

The sheriff’s report said the two were hanging out in their apartment playing Xbox when the 18-year-old decided to go to sleep. He told deputies his roommate was pretty drunk. The drunk roommate apparently wasn’t ready for his friend to go to sleep, so he grabbed a can of Lysol and started spraying the sleepy roommate.

As if that wasn’t insulting enough, the Lysol-wielding roommate grabbed him and locked him out of the apartment for about 10 minutes.

When the sleepy roommate was allowed back inside, he asked the obvious — “Why’d you do that?” The roommate said he was just messing around. It was accepted and the sleepy roommate went to bed. But not for very long.

About a half-hour later, the sheriff’s report said Lysol man barged into his roommate’s bedroom and started bothering him again with lemon-scented attacks. A fight broke out between the two and Lysol man ditched the can and went to his fists, throwing about 25 or 30 punches to his friend. Then he went to biting him on both sides of his body, which deputies had no problem identifying.

When the deputies arrived at the apartment the next morning to question Lysol man, he made an unsuccessful attempt to downplay the previous night’s events as “just two roommates fighting.” Nonetheless, he was summonsed for third-degree assault.

Nice recovery, boss

BEAVER CREEK — Reverse scammers don’t seem to get enough credit, but the way a Beaver Creek sports store lured in a pedestrian criminal was pretty impressive.

One of the shop’s brand new managers was approached by a 19-year-old looking to sell the store a pair of Volkl Mantra skis. When the manager entered the skis into the system, he saw they were flagged as stolen. Instead of freaking out and calling police, the manager acted interested in buying the skis, got the seller’s number and let him leave with the skis. Then he called his boss.

The next day, the boss called the seller, all enthusiastic and ready to bargain for some nice used skis. They met at the store later in the afternoon. When the boss verified the skis were stolen, he called security, who called deputies, who took the failed criminal to jail. And the store got their skis back without having to pay a dime for them.

Failed relationship

GYPSUM — It was a busy night for two deputies on Dec. 26 thanks to a Gypsum couple who called 911 three times within two hours.

The boyfriend claimed he was pushed by his girlfriend after being woken up for no apparent reason, while the girlfriend said her boyfriend pushed her, held her down and blasted her with unaffectionate terms about her weight and morals.

Somewhere in the string of calls somebody broke into a bedroom with a butter knife, but there was no blood or scars to prove it.

The couple admitted to deputies they were involved in a failed relationship, but neither was willing to move out of the house.

For at least that night, though, one of them would leave. The boyfriend was arrested for domestic violence and harassment.
