VAIL VALLEY, Colorado Vail Valley nonprofits, agencies and other programs will get $817,000 this year in grants from the Eagle County Board of Commissioners.
The grants were awarded in three categories: economic, environmental and social services. Over 40 grant applications were received, totaling over $2 million. The board funded $895,947 in grants in 2008.
Many of these agencies are offering services the county would consider providing, if another organization was not already doing it, said Commissioner Peter Runyon. The grant awards represent a variety of programs that serve a large cross-section of the community.
The grant funding will be finalized as part of the first supplemental budget resolution, scheduled to occur in February.
