VAIL, Colorado The winter snowpack in Vail, Colorado is still well above the average of the last 30 years, according to measurements released Monday by the Eagle River Water and Sanitation District.
As of Monday, the snow on Vail Mountain was equivalent to 16.3 inches of water. That compares to a 30-year average of 12.6 inches of water for the same date.
During the drought-stricken winter of 2001-02, the number for that date was about 9.5 inches.
