VAIL, Colorado The fifth annual Vail Film Festival in Vail, Colorado is delighted to welcome back prodigal son and daughter, director Jon Gunn and producer Kerry David, who won Audience Favorite in the festivals inaugural debut in 2004, with My Date With Drew. They return triumphantly to Vail in April with Like Dandelion Dust, an emotional story they have worked to bring to film for several years.
Producer Kerry David is excited to share her newest project with a Vail audience, We are thrilled to be returning to the VFF which we remember so fondly when playing there with our feature documentary My Date with Drew. Like Dandelion Dust is a vast departure in terms of story, but we feel it has the same heart ultimately. We are extremely grateful that the VFF invited us back and we look forward to seeing how a Colorado audience receives Like Dandelion Dust.
Based on the best-selling novel by author Karen Kingsbury, the story centers on the seemingly charmed life of Jack and Molly Campbell, with their adopted six-year old, Joey. Tranquility falls away rapidly, as a startling phone call announces the intention of Joeys biological father, recently released from prison, to regain his son. The Campbells are stunned, and then horrified, as a judge upholds the biological fathers rights and orders them to hand Joey over to a violent man he doesnt remember. Jack and Molly struggle to formulate a way to escape. What is the difference between right and wrong when looking at into the eyes of a six-year old? The cast includes Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino, Barry Pepper, Kate Levering, Cole Hauser and Maxwell Perry Cotton as young Joey.
Festival audiences across the country are already cheering, as the film has claimed Best of the Best at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and Best Feature at the Sedona International Film Festival. Already scheduled to screen at five other prestigious festivals across the country, this film is on the fast track for critical acclaim.
