What is the organization's mission and who benefits from its work?
Vail Valley Cares is an ecumenical Christian help organization dedicated to sharing the love of God by meeting people's needs. We are a local nonprofit help organization operating two Thrifty Shops in the Eagle River Valley. In recent years, we have given over $1.2 million in grants to local charities. Some of the charities we support are Vail Valley Salvation Army, Vail Valley Charitable Fund, Eagle Valley Family Assistance Fund, Meet the Wilderness, Eagle River Youth Coalition, The Learning Camp, the Bright Future Foundation and many others.
Where does your funding come from?
Our donors provide clothing, furniture, household items, sports equipment, and many other items that are sold to customers at our Thrifty Shops. The proceeds from the sales are used as grants for charities.
How many staff members work for you?
We have approximately 20-25 staff members and volunteers.
Anything else you'd like the community to know about the organization?
Vail Valley Cares is all about caring people our generous donors who provide slightly used items that are an excellent value for our customers. The proceeds from the sales are granted to local charities and help hundreds of families in our community. Everyone at Vail Valley Cares, from our board members to our newest employee, feel a responsibility to our community to make sure that the donations given to us, the revenue generated and the grants we provide are handled in the most professional and caring manner.
