14 builders want to build Vail housing

West Vail duplex will be deed-restricted, sold through town lottery

VAIL, Colorado — The town of Vail, Colorado received 14 proposals from who want to build an employee housing duplex on town-owned land in West Vail.

The companies, all from Eagle County, are vying to build the for-sale housing at a .418 acre site at 2657 Arosa Drive. The land was acquired by the town in 1995 as part of a land exchange with the U.S. Forest Service, and the town wants to see the land used for affordable, deed-restricted housing. The two units are to be deed restricted and sold to qualified purchasers through the town’s lottery system.

The firms are Burke Harrington Construction, Vail; CHC Mountain Structures, Eagle; Contract One, Avon; Dantas Builders, Inc., Vail; Evans Chaffee Construction Group and RKD Architects, Avon; George Shaeffer Construction, Vail; Gregg & Co Builders, Wolcott; JJP Companies, Edwards; J.L. Viele Construction and Vail Architecture Group, Vail; Plan B Builders, Vail; R.A. Nelson, Avon; Thrasher LLC and Victor Mark Donaldson, Eagle; TRD Architects and Woodstone Homes, Vail; and Vail Custom Builders, Edwards

The responses will be reviewed by the Vail Local Housing Authority.
