VAIL VALLEY. Colorado — SOS Outreach has room in its Vail Valley summer sports programs for kids.

Kids age 8 to 18 can sign up for rock climbing. Kids will learn the fundamentals of rock climbing from professional instructors and how to climb as an individual and in teams. Kids can sign up for as many sessions as they like.

Rock climbing classes are every Monday and Wednesday from June 15 to Aug. 19, form 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. On Mondays, students are picked at the Minturn Ranger Station and on Wednesdays, at the Eagle Visitors Center

Students aged 13 to 18 can go a weeklong wilderness trip during which they will learn about backpacking, rock-climbing, ascending a high peak, outdoor living and survival skills. They also will learn about the environment. During the trips there will be campfire activities including games and storytelling.

The trips are July 8 to 14 and Aug. 5 to 11. Both trips begin at 10 a.m. on the first day and end at 10 a.m. on the last day.
