ASPEN, Colorado — The city is reaching out to its part-time residents with a “Welcome Back to Aspen” event — an informal open house for part-time Aspenites.
The gathering will take place Wednesday, June 24 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Rio Grande meeting room, in the former Aspen Youth Center building at 455 Rio Grande Place. The event will also include a mini job fair for local teens seeking summer work.
“This event will offer part-time residents a way to get connected with their local mayor and council members,” said City Manager Steve Barwick in a press release announcing the event. “We'll present the ‘goings-on' around City Hall in an open house-style format, including a host of topics from parking to police.”
Staff from the Pitkin County Assessor's Office has been invited to discuss property valuations at the event, and part-time residents can also find out about ways to stay in touch with Aspen during their time away from the community, including the city's e-newsletters and live webcasts of City Council meetings.
The event is also a chance for part-time residents looking for a babysitter or yard laborer to connect with local teens who are looking for summer work, Barwick said.
