MINTURN, Colorado — Talent Beyond the Slopes and the Minturn Community Fund have joined forces to bring a new music festival to the valley.

MinturnRocks will feature local talent during an afternoon of music in Little Beach Park in Minturn from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

A half dozen or more musical acts, including Chuck Grossman, Terri Armistead, Scott Loss and the Lost Cause Trio, Ken Wander and Earl Hartman with special guests, and Steve Ridgeway, will perform acoustic jams, folk and roots, and contemporary music during the Saturday afternoon charity event.

“Last summer, Ken, from Talent Beyond the Slopes, approached the Minturn Community Fund about partnering to do an event at Little Beach Park,” said Kerry Donovan, executive director of the Minturn Community Fund. “We both agreed that Little Beach Park is such a beautiful venue and needed to be used more by locals. This event is a chance for that to happen! We hope it can grow into a energetic music festival that can bring peple together in the name of two great local charities.”

The music festival is free of charge and concertgoers are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy the entire afternoon at the music festival. Plenty of free parking is available. Little Beach Park Amphitheater is accessed off of Main Street via Cemetery Road. Drive a half mile through Minturn and Cemetery Road is on your left. MinturnRocks coincides with Minturn's first Farmer's Market of the season, to make for an ideal summer Saturday of strolling through the market and then joining two charities for a unique afternoon of eclectic music.

Talent Beyond the Slopes is known for its winter talent shows featuring the skills of the ski and snowboard school staff of Vail and Beaver Creek. Talent Beyond the Slopes was started by two locals who saw a need to create a funding mechanism for families of the ski and snowboard schools who fall on hard times. Its past shows at the Vilar Center have been near sell-outs. MinturnRocks will focus more on the musical talents of valley residents and aim to have a festival-like atmosphere as it grows.

The Minturn Community Fund is the only nonprofit focused solely on the town and people of Minturn. The Minturn Community strives to enhances the lives of Minturn residents and connect people. This music festival will not only present free music for Minturn and valley residents but will introduce people to Little Beach Park — a hidden gem in the Vail Valley. Little Beach Park has an intimate amphitheater, a playground, and is nestled between the Lionshead and the Eagle River.
