Noise complaint goes bad in Eagle

Eagle police say assault occurred when one roommate asked another to keep his voice down

Editor's note: The following excerpt was taken from Eagle County law enforcement officers and police reports.

EAGLE, Colorado — Last week Eagle Police responded to an assault report at Eagle Ranch that began when one roommate asked another to keep his voice down.

According to the report, at about 3:30 p.m. a man was trying to get his 2-year-old down for a nap but one of his roommates was talking too loud. The father claimed he asked the other man to quiet down, but the roommate responded by threatening him and punching him in the face. The father said he was holding his child at the time.

The father retreated to his bedroom and called police, the report said.

The responding officer spoke to a female who also lives at the dwelling and she confirmed the basic story, but described the assault as a slap rather than a punch.

The accused roommate admitted he got angry when asked to quiet down, but denied any physical confrontation.

The roommate was issued a ticket for harassment and at the request of the other two occupants, he was told to leave the residence.
