EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado — A flash flood warning is in effect in Eagle County until 6 p.m., Friday, the National Weather Service says.
Radar has detected thunderstorms with 'very heavy rainfall' moving slowly across the region. Rainfall could exceed three inches an hour in some areas, the Weather Service says.
Avon, Eagle and Gypsum are most at-risk for flooding, the Weather Service says.
The Weather Service says residents should be aware of nearby streams and creeks, and that
most flood-deaths occur in cars. Drivers are urged not to try to cross bridges, dips or other low spots that are covered by water. Just a few inches of swiftly moving water can carry a vehicle away, the Weather Service says.
In hilly terrain, there are hundreds of low water crossings that can be dangerous during heavy rain, the Weather Service says.
The Weather Service also says unsettled weather will continue Saturday and Sunday. Thunderstorms and rain showers will be widespread on Saturday and decrease on Sunday, the Weather Service says.
