Bravo! toasts locals on Sunday in Vail

Pianist Orli Shaham will perform with Dallas Symphony Orchestra at Vail music festival

VAIL , Colorado — Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival presents the Dallas Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Jaap van Zweden on Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail.

Pianist Orli Shaham will also appear with the orchestra, performing works by Wagenaar, Saint-Saens, and Tchaikovsky. Sunday's concert is also the first of two “locals appreciation nights” at the amphitheater. Vail Valley residents can buy seats at a two-for-one rate, subject to availability. Ticket prices are $23 for lawn seating, $48 for reserved and $60 for premium reserved.

Performances includes Wagenaar's “Cyrano de Bergerac Overture,” Saint-Saens' “Concerto No. 2 in G Minor for Piano and Orchestra, Op.22,” and Tchaikovsky's “Symphony No. 5 in E Minor, Op.64.”

A prodigy since childhood, Shaham is recognized not only for her prowess on the piano, but also as a broadcaster, music writer, and lecturer. Shaham has served as the host of the program, “Dial-A-Musician,” since its inception in 2005.
