All Vail Valley restaurants are invited to participate in the annual Gourmet on Gore festival
VAIL, Colorado — Vail's Gourmet on Gore, an open-air tasting of wine, spirits and beers and food from restaurants throughout the Vail Valley, returns Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4-6. Now in its fourth year, this three-day festival will be held in Vail Village. The event will include free live music and will kick off with the Connoisseur's Trail Art Walk.
“Gourmet on Gore combines specialty dishes in taste-size portions from the Vail Valley's finest restaurants with complimenting wines, spirits and beers from the wide assortment of international and domestic varietals being featured,” said Missy Johnson of Highline Sports & Entertainment. “With wines from France, Italy, Australia and South America, as well as domestic varieties from California and the Northwest, Gourmet on Gore will showcase sauvignon blanc to super tuscans to vodkas and rums and everything in between.”
Gourmet on Gore starts Sept. 4 from 5 to 7:30p.m. with the Connoisseur's Trail Art Walk, a five-gallery tour that includes wine pairing with gourmet food from Vail restaurants. The cost of the Connoisseur's Trail Art Walk is $30, with tickets available on Sept. 3 and Sept. 4 at the Vail-Beaver Creek Magazine tent located in Vail Village. The Art Walk benefits Small Champions, a local Eagle County non-profit organization providing year-round sports programs for children with disabilities.
On Sept. 5 and 6 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. attendees can try and talk vino with winemakers and sommeliers on hand to educate attendees on the tasting process. Each wine tasting portion will be priced in $1 increments. “Gourmet dollar” tokens as well as tasting glasses will be available for purchase on-site.
Wine, spirits and beers are not the only temptations at Gourmet on Gore however, as renowned chefs will serve culinary delights throughout the festival. Restaurants will create specialty dishes in taste-size portions, which may then be paired with the wide assortment of wines, spirits and beers being offered. Much like wine tasting portions, fare samples will also be offered at affordable prices.
“Gourmet on Gore is intended to make the traditional high-end food and wine festival more accessible to the general public,” Johnson said. “There is no admission charge and food and beverage portions are very reasonably priced, which provides a wonderful opportunity for guests to learn more about wine, spirits and sample foods from some of the finest restaurants in the country.”
All Vail Valley restaurants are invited to participate in the annual festival by providing tasting size food samples to be sold throughout the duration of the festival.
