What is the organization's mission and who benefits from its work?
Habitat for Humanity builds simple, decent homes in partnership with local families in need. The Habitat Home Outlet is a fundraising effort accepting gently used furniture, appliances and reusable building materials. These items are sold at a tremendous discount to our community. Everyone benefits from the Outlet. The donor receives a tax deducible receipt and diverts reusable items from our Eagle County landfill. The customers benefit from the beautiful donations that we receive in this valley and experience great savings. And our community benefits because all proceeds stay here locally to help build affordable housing with hard working members of our valley.
How many staff members work for you?
There are five employees at the Habitat Home Outlet. Being a retail establishment, we must have consistency in assuring that the store is open each day and the truck goes out for scheduled appointments to pick up donations. We appreciate our community volunteers and can always use more donated services. There's always plenty of work to be done! If you are interested in helping with this great reuse initiative, call 970-524-0669. We can use all talents to help carry, clean, display and sell the donated items.
Anything else you'd like the community to know about the organization?
The Habitat Home Outlet is also able to help with De-construction projects. Given proper notification on nice remodeling jobs, we will gather a team of volunteers to work alongside construction crews to un-install cabinetry, appliances, doors, light fixtures, and more. We can schedule the truck to haul away items as they come out of the home.
Habitat for Humanity will also accept donated vehicles.
