AVON, Colorado — After selling their possessions in Feb., 2007, Yamn hit the road to tour the western United States. They traveled by bus, from Texas to California, Washington to Montana, and everywhere in between, said David Duart, bassist and vocalist.
Since then the band has focused on more shows all over their home state of Colorado, he said.
The band will shut off the lights Saturday in Avon to make room for its light show. Yamn is going to pump their smoke machine, and throw a rock show at Finnegan's Wake as part of the “Some Avon Jam” event, Duart said.
“Our shows are a place for people to forget about whatever they have going on in their lives, and just have fun, party and dance ... for the three hours that we're playing,” he said.
The band's light show is run by Paul Whitehouse, who was once an avid Yamn fan, but saved up for a light set up to dazzle the crowd, Duart said.
Whitehouse now lives with the band in Denver and attends practice to perfect his accompanying lights.
“He's a fifth band member,” Duart said. “He knows our songs better than anybody, he knows them inside out.”

The band keeps the show fresh by learning new covers, creating new songs and improvising with their songs, he said.
“Our sound is still an evolving sound ... We are always trying to stretch our limits, and challenge ourselves as musicians, and that, I think, challenges the audience as well,” Duart said. “We try to make every show completely different ... we'll take 30 songs of ours, split them up into three parts, and rearrange them,”
“Be prepared for high-energy, electro-jam rock, an astounding lightshow and music that will move you,” said Nicole Inglis, friend of the band members and reporter for the Craig Daily Press newspaper.
“Some Avon Jam” is a promotional show for the Some Mountain Jam music festival. The festival will run from July 24 to 26 in Park County, Colo.
“Our show on Saturday at Finnegan's is pretty much an unofficial pre-party for this festival,” he said.
Frogs Gone Fishin' will play on Finnegan's deck at 5 p.m., and Avon band, Hustle, will follow inside. Yamn will play from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., with some members from Hustle sitting in to play with them as well, said Michael Welle, general manager of Finnegan's Wake.
All three bands will perform during the Some Mountain Jam festival.
